Aphrodite Latinopoulou involved in verbal altercation at Tinos port

On August 11, 2026, Aphrodite Latinopoulou, leader of the Voice of Reason party and Member of the European Parliament, was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of individuals of Roma origin at the port of Tinos. The politician, who was traveling without a police escort to board a ship bound for Rafina, was approached by the group while waiting at the port. According to reports, the interaction began as a dialogue, with one man asserting that not all Roma individuals are the same. Latinopoulou replied that she holds no grievances against those who are law-abiding, pay taxes, and refrain from illegal activities, emphasizing that her political statements target criminal behavior rather than any specific demographic group.

The situation escalated quickly when members of the group began shouting insults and vulgar language at the politician. A video documenting the incident has since surfaced, showing Latinopoulou's reaction to the aggression. Following the event, the MEP returned and formally reported the incident to the Hellenic Police. As of now, no official case has been filed, and the authorities are reportedly evaluating the information provided to determine the next steps in the investigation.
