25th Countryside Animafest Cyprus concludes with award ceremony

The 25th Countryside Animafest Cyprus – Views of the World concluded on August 9, 2026, in the village of Koilani, Limassol district. The four-day event showcased contemporary animation through screenings, workshops, concerts, and various artistic activities.

The competition program featured 30 international films and seven Cypriot productions, with an additional 15 international films screened for young audiences. The jury, consisting of Kaiti Papadima (Cyprus), Roberto Panganelli (Italy), and Jakob Schuh (Germany), awarded the prestigious Dimitris Eipidis Grand Prize to the film 'Hind', a co-production between the United Kingdom and Germany directed by Stanley Miller. Additionally, the National Competition Jury Award was given to Nafsika Hadjichristou for her film 'Missing Frequencies', which explores the director's personal experience with hearing impairment through a blend of live-action and animation techniques.

This year's event served as a platform for highlighting diverse animation styles and narratives, emphasizing both established international voices and emerging local talent. By successfully integrating complex human experiences into the festival’s program, the event reinforced its role as a significant cultural gathering for the animation community.
