Decline in bounced checks recorded in Cyprus during July 2026

Data released by the Central Bank of Cyprus on Wednesday indicates a significant decrease in the number of bounced checks for July 2026. A total of 16 bounced checks were recorded during the month, with an aggregate value of €40,799, compared to 30 checks valued at €42,715 in July 2025 and 36 checks valued at €60,416 in July 2024.

For the first seven months of 2026, the Central Bank reported a total of 101 bounced checks amounting to €288,489. This reflects a downward trend compared to the same period in 2025, during which 145 checks totaling €309,599 were registered. These incidents involved a total of 70 individuals, consisting of 48 legal entities and 22 natural persons.

The figures are derived from the preliminary list of the Central Information Registry (CIR), which tracks issuers of bounced checks. The data provides a historical overview of financial non-compliance within the country, showing a continued reduction in the frequency and total value of these fiscal instruments over the past three years.
