Police file on Kalo Chorio shooting range fire submitted for legal review

The Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) has concluded its inquiry into the fire that occurred at the Kalo Chorio shooting range on July 27, 2026. The investigation file, which seeks to establish the conditions and causes of the blaze, was forwarded to the Police Headquarters and is currently being transferred to the Legal Service. The Attorney General will now evaluate the findings to determine whether criminal charges should be brought against individuals responsible for conducting the military exercise.

Preliminary reports suggest the exercise was held in violation of safety protocols that prohibit live firing and the destruction of explosives during the summer months, a rule in effect since May. Furthermore, sources indicate that officials ignored hazardous weather conditions at the time of the incident, which took place in the presence of American personnel.
