Infrastructure updates and utility disruptions in Limassol
The Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA) has announced a scheduled water supply interruption on Friday, August 14, from 7:00 to 13:00. The outage will affect the area north of the 2nd Technical School, specifically impacting residents on Filippou Konstantinidis, Vasiliou Kousouli, Lieutenant Nikolaos Papageorgiou, Nikolaos Lazarou, Leonidas Christodoulou, Captain Kapotas, Revekkas, Agios Andronikos, Stravinsky, and part of Aiolou Street. This measure is part of a broader project to replace 1.2 kilometers of the aging water network in the 'Ariel' area to reduce frequent leaks.
Simultaneously, the Municipality of Limassol has closed the southbound lane of Omonias Avenue, from the junction with Vasileos Pavlou Street, from 5:00 to 20:00 on August 13. The closure is required to facilitate the demolition of an abandoned building, with traffic diversions clearly marked. Drivers are urged to remain cautious in the vicinity.
In addition to these planned disruptions, the EOA Limassol has launched an urgent investigation into irrigation water supply issues reported by local farmers and livestock breeders. The organization is coordinating with the Water Development Department and the Environmental Department to identify the cause of the reduced supply and restore services, with a formal update expected following the completion of the inquiry.
