Department of Civil Aviation reports on recent safety inspections of Ryanair aircraft

The Department of Civil Aviation in Cyprus conducted four on-site inspections of Ryanair Group aircraft over the past two years, finding no safety issues severe enough to warrant restrictive measures or raise concerns regarding the airline's operations in the country. Former Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, provided these details to the House of Representatives in response to an inquiry from Limassol MP Ephraim Christou, submitted on July 13.

The inquiry was prompted by an incident involving a Ryanair flight traveling from Thessaloniki to Munich. Former Minister Vafeadis confirmed that the specific aircraft, registered as 9H-QEU, is operated by Malta Air Ltd, a subsidiary of the Ryanair Group holding a valid Air Operator Certificate (AOC).

Regarding the reported flight incident, the Department of Civil Aviation is monitoring the ongoing investigation conducted by the relevant Greek authorities. The department intends to evaluate all findings and safety recommendations issued by Greek authorities or the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and will take appropriate action if deemed necessary.
