Hotel cleaner arrested for theft of jewellery in Paphos
A 39-year-old foreign national working as a hotel cleaner in Paphos was arrested on Wednesday, August 12, following allegations of theft from a guest's room. The guest, a tourist staying at the hotel, reported that a pair of earrings and a bracelet, valued at approximately 1,000 euros, were missing after she left her room. Local authorities launched an investigation, which included cooperation with hotel management.
Evidence revealed that the suspect used a master key to enter the specific room, despite not being assigned to clean it. Upon interrogation by police, the woman admitted to the theft and surrendered the stolen items. The suspect was taken into custody immediately following the investigation.
The case is scheduled for presentation before the Paphos District Court, where formal charges are expected to be filed. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as legal proceedings continue.
