Israeli settlers besiege Palestinian homes in Qusra village

Since Sunday, August 10, 2026, dozens of Israeli settlers have been besieging several Palestinian homes in the village of Qusra, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. The settlers blocked access to electricity and water, effectively preventing the inhabitants from receiving food or medical supplies. Among the affected is a Palestinian resident who also holds United States citizenship. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, usually a proponent of settlements, publicly condemned the siege as an act of terrorism and urged intervention.

While the Israeli military has maintained a presence in the area and attempted to dismantle settler tents, their efforts have been criticized as insufficient. Reports indicate that IDF soldiers have occupied parts of the affected properties, instructing the families that operations might continue until Sunday. Meanwhile, left-wing Israeli activists attempted to deliver humanitarian aid to the families on August 14. Amid the ongoing impasse, internal friction has emerged, with military officials reportedly challenging a directive from Defense Minister Israel Katz to transfer law enforcement duties to the police, citing fears of career repercussions if they use force against the settlers.
