Burgas to host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest in 2027

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Bulgarian National Television (BNT) have officially announced that the 71st Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria. The coastal city on the Black Sea was selected over other contenders, including Sofia, Varna, and Plovdiv, thanks to its robust infrastructure and the modern Arena Burgas, which opened in 2023.

The competition is scheduled to take place with the first semi-final on May 11, the second semi-final on May 13, and the grand final on May 15, 2027. This marks the first time Bulgaria will host the event, following the historic victory of singer Dara in Vienna in 2026 with her song "Bangaranga." Organizers, including Eurovision Song Contest director Martin Green, expressed confidence in the city's capacity to accommodate international delegations and fans, noting the extensive preparations already underway at the local airport and throughout the city.
