Cyfield secures contract for new university faculty in Larnaca

The Cyfield Group has been awarded the contract to construct the new Faculty of Marine Sciences, Technology and Sustainable Development of the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) in Larnaca. According to Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras, if no legal challenges arise, the foundation stone ceremony will be conducted by President Nikos Christodoulides on October 30, 2026, with construction works expected to commence shortly thereafter. This project marks the first public university faculty in the city, fulfilling a key campaign pledge made by President Christodoulides.

Despite the upcoming development, concerns have been raised regarding a lack of provision for public student housing. Minister of Education Athina Michaelidou confirmed that the current viability study does not include the construction of student dormitories. The school is scheduled to open in the autumn of 2028, initially hosting 70 undergraduate students, with capacity expected to expand to approximately 500 students in full operation. The planned facilities will focus on academic infrastructure, including classrooms, amphitheaters, laboratories, and administrative offices, rather than residential support.
