AEL completes preparation stage in Poland as new season approaches
AEL Limassol has returned to Cyprus following the conclusion of its main pre-season training camp in Poland. Under the guidance of coach Hugo Martins, the team played three friendlies in Poland, securing a 2-1 victory against Atromitos and recording two 1-1 draws against Legia Warsaw and Radomiak. The club underwent a significant roster overhaul since May, parting ways with nearly 20 players and finalizing 15 new signings, which the technical staff considers sufficient for the upcoming campaign.
Looking ahead, AEL has two remaining friendly matches scheduled to fine-tune its squad before the season opener against Anorthosis. The team will face ENY on August 19 and Aris on August 22, the latter serving as a dress rehearsal. While coach Martins has expressed satisfaction with the current roster, management remains open to potential further additions, specifically targeting a striker and a central defender to address remaining needs. With 15 players currently listed in the 'A' category, the club maintains flexibility to pursue these final signings as they aim to improve upon recent performance levels and build team homogeneity.
