APOEL striker Pieros Sotiriou undergoes knee surgery

Cypriot international striker Pieros Sotiriou, who plays for APOEL, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in Austria to address persistent fluid buildup. The procedure was performed by the same surgeon who previously treated his serious cruciate ligament injury.

APOEL spokesperson Nektarios Petevinos confirmed that the surgery was a necessary step during the athlete's recovery process. While previous media reports suggested an earlier return, the current medical assessment indicates a delay of approximately two to three weeks. Consequently, the team expects the captain to return to competitive play between late October and early November.

Sotiriou remains a key player for the Nicosia-based club. The current focus is on his rehabilitation in Germany and Austria as he aims to regain full fitness following his long-term injury recovery phase.
