Rare Pokemon cards stolen in French heist

Four hooded individuals robbed a collectible card store in Bourgoin-Jallieu, France, in the early hours of Thursday, August 13, 2026. According to the store manager of Smogtrade, the intruders broke into the premises around 4:00 AM local time. Despite the store's alarm system triggering, the suspects managed to steal hundreds of rare Pokemon cards before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

The owner estimated the value of the stolen merchandise at approximately 80,000 euros. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the robbery to identify the perpetrators and attempt to recover the stolen items. This incident marks another instance of high-value collectible trading cards becoming a target for theft, mirroring a trend that has seen similar crimes occur across France and internationally, such as a notable heist in Rennes in February 2024.

Police are currently reviewing evidence and tracking the suspects following their escape from the crime scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
