Cyprus public hospitals on high alert for August 15 holiday

Public hospitals and the Ambulance Service under the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) in Cyprus have been placed on high alert ahead of the August 15 holiday. Charalambos Charilaou, the organization's spokesperson, stated that necessary planning and staffing are in place to address any emergency situations that may arise during the summer period, supported by the General Healthcare System.

The health services have reported an increased patient volume at Accident and Emergency departments (TAEP) due to the current extreme temperatures. Personnel are managing a rise in cases related to heat stress, minor accidents, and sunburn, alongside an increase in general admissions. Charilaou emphasized that all departments are fully staffed with physicians and medical personnel to ensure continuous coverage for unexpected or serious incidents throughout the peak holiday period.
