Jared Kushner to visit Israel and Egypt to discuss Gaza peace plan

White House senior advisor Jared Kushner is expected to travel to Israel and Egypt next week alongside Nickolay Mladenov, the top representative of President Donald Trump’s 'Peace Council' for Gaza. The visit aims to address diplomatic friction following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of a 15-point American roadmap on August 9. This plan, which was introduced by Mladenov in late July, entails the disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

While Hamas has accepted the proposal, the Israeli government insists on the genuine disarmament of the militant group as a prerequisite for any troop withdrawal. According to reports from Axios, the United States is seeking to reconcile these differences and align its strategy with Israel. Some analysts attribute Netanyahu's public dismissal of the roadmap to domestic political pressures, specifically the upcoming Israeli parliamentary elections scheduled for October 27.

During his regional tour, Kushner intends to meet with mediators from Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt to discuss the second phase of the Trump peace plan. The diplomatic mission is critical as both the U.S. and Israel attempt to coordinate their long-term objectives for the coastal enclave despite their current policy disagreements.
