Cyprus police conduct nationwide anti-crime operations and drug seizures

Over the past 24 hours, the Cyprus Police conducted a series of targeted preventive operations across the island to enhance public safety. Officers intercepted 586 vehicles, checked 863 people, and inspected 46 premises. These efforts resulted in eight arrests for offenses ranging from assault and burglary to illegal residence and traffic violations, along with 236 traffic citations and 15 ongoing investigations. Additionally, 22 vehicles were impounded.

In separate developments, police made several arrests regarding residential burglaries in Nicosia, Larnaca, and Limassol. Notably, in Nicosia, a 21-year-old was arrested after 85 grams of cannabis and 8,800 euros were found in his possession, leading to a three-day remand. In Larnaca, authorities separately arrested a 36-year-old man at the airport carrying approximately 23 kilograms of cannabis. These investigations, led by the Anti-Narcotics Service and local CID departments, remain ongoing as legal proceedings against the suspects continue.
