Game warden and four others arrested during police operation in Limassol

On the night of August 14, 2026, Limassol police, in coordination with the MMAD unit, conducted a targeted operation aimed at preventing crime and youth delinquency. During this operation, authorities arrested five individuals, including a 46-year-old game warden.

The 46-year-old game warden was detained while off-duty after police discovered a knife, pepper spray, and, according to the Cyprus Times, a quantity of cannabis in his possession. Other arrests during the operation included two men, aged 31 and 36, caught with burglary tools, class A and B drugs, and driving uncertified vehicles. A 19-year-old was apprehended for possessing a class B pharmaceutical product and committing traffic violations, while a 31-year-old woman was arrested for carrying a knife. A fifth person was arrested due to outstanding fine warrants.

This sweep is part of an ongoing effort by Limassol police to increase patrols and monitoring of the secondary road network and rural areas. The operation resulted in 15 additional reports for various traffic violations. The detainees now face formal legal proceedings as investigators continue their work.
