Police arrest game warden and five others during anti-crime operation in Limassol

A coordinated anti-crime operation conducted by Limassol police and the Special Police Unit (MMAD) during the night of August 14, 2026, resulted in the arrest of six individuals. Among those detained was a 46-year-old game warden, who was caught in possession of a knife, a pepper spray canister, and suspected cannabis. Other arrests during the operation included two men, aged 31 and 36, found with burglary tools and narcotics, a 19-year-old in possession of controlled pharmaceutical products, a 31-year-old woman for carrying a knife, and an individual wanted for unpaid fines.

The operation aimed to curb delinquency and enhance road safety across the district. Authorities conducted extensive vehicle and person checks, resulting in 15 traffic-related complaints in the rural road network. Following this initial night of operations, police extended their efforts on August 15, conducting widespread checks across Cyprus that led to eight additional arrests for various offenses, including assault, burglary, and driving under the influence, while impounding 22 vehicles.
