Cyprus meteorological department warns of seasonal low pressure and unstable weather

Seasonal low pressure and unstable air masses are currently affecting Cyprus, leading to rain, localized storms, and occasional hail, particularly in mountainous regions, the interior, and eastern areas. Meteorological officer Panagiotis Mouskos confirmed that while wind conditions remain relatively mild at 3 to 4 Beaufort, they may occasionally reach 5 Beaufort in coastal regions. These autumnal-like weather patterns, which have caused brief disruptions to beachgoers in Limassol, are expected to persist through the August 15th holiday and into the following week.

Temperatures are forecast to reach approximately 36-37 degrees Celsius in the interior, 30-34 degrees in coastal areas, and around 26-28 degrees in the higher mountains. While the weather remains within typical seasonal averages, the authorities have noted an extremely high risk of forest fires. The meteorological service continues to monitor the situation, advising residents to expect localized afternoon showers and isolated storms accompanied by potential hail throughout the coming days.
