Mixed outlook on Cyprus summer sales performance

Philokypros Rousounidis, Secretary General of KEBE, reported a positive trend in commercial activity, noting that consumer interest has been stimulated by attractive pricing, particularly in the clothing and footwear sectors. He expressed general satisfaction with current market activity.

Conversely, Stefanos Koursaris, Secretary General of POVEK, offered a more cautious perspective. He emphasized that the retail market continues to face significant headwinds, including a decline in tourism numbers, the ongoing impact of inflation, and broader international economic instability. While acknowledging the presence of sales, he suggests that these broader economic challenges are tempering the overall performance of the sector during this period.
