Police to increase traffic enforcement for Assumption Day

The Cyprus Police will implement heightened traffic control measures from August 14 to August 16 to manage increased travel volumes during the Assumption Day holiday. Officers will be deployed across motorways, highways, and major routes leading to coastal and mountain resorts to facilitate traffic flow and ensure road safety. Specific operational plans have been drafted for police directorates, including Nicosia, to address the anticipated influx of vehicles.

Police officials, including Head of Road Safety Giorgos Milis and Tasos Asiikkis from the Police Headquarters, emphasized that the operation focuses on preventing serious traffic violations. Measures will involve motorized patrols, traffic regulation, and strict enforcement against driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, dangerous overtaking, failure to use seatbelts, and mobile phone use while driving. The initiative aims to reduce collisions and assist travelers in reaching their holiday destinations safely.
