Consumer price report for July 2026 shows widespread inflation in Cyprus

In July 2026, the Consumer Protection Service of Cyprus reported a broad increase in prices for household products. Out of 45 tracked categories, 31 recorded price hikes compared to the previous month, while 13 categories saw decreases and one remained stable. Fresh vegetables and frozen mollusks experienced the most significant price increases, whereas laundry detergents and LPG cylinders showed the largest declines.

Compared to July 2025, inflation affected 39 out of 45 categories. The Statistical Service recorded an annual inflation rate of 2.9% for July, following rates of 3.1% in June, 2.5% in May, and 2.8% in April. This trend is attributed primarily to a 12.2% surge in petroleum products and an 8.2% rise in agricultural goods.

Officials state that this inflationary pressure has persisted over the last four months, largely linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The data serves as an assessment of the economic climate as the region continues to grapple with energy and food supply disruptions.
