Escalation in drone warfare involves NATO airspace breaches

A significant escalation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict occurred between August 14 and 16, 2026, marked by widespread drone attacks and intrusions into NATO airspace. On August 14, Latvian authorities confirmed that an unidentified drone, potentially Ukrainian and affected by Russian electronic warfare, was shot down by NATO allied aircraft.
