36-year-old man arrested in Nicosia for attempted murder of his partner

On August 14, 2026, police in Nicosia arrested a 36-year-old man following reports that he had assaulted his 29-year-old female partner. The alleged offenses, which include attempted murder, kidnapping, causing grievous bodily harm, and violence against women, reportedly took place between August 12 and 13, 2026.

According to investigation details, the victim was allegedly held captive in the suspect's home for more than 10 hours. She was subsequently taken to the Nicosia General Hospital, where medical staff identified bruises, swelling, and hematomas across her body. She received first aid and was later discharged.

The 36-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court on August 15, 2026, where authorities will request a detention order to facilitate further investigation. The case is currently being handled by the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE).
