Criminal investigators appointed to probe police misconduct allegations by Annie Alexui
On August 14, 2026, the Independent Authority for the Investigation of Allegations and Complaints against the Police (ADIPA) informed Ioanna Fotiou, known on social media as Annie Alexui, that two criminal investigators have been appointed to examine seven formal complaints she filed against police officers.
The investigation follows a petition Fotiou submitted to the Ministry of Justice. While Fotiou expressed satisfaction with the development and confirmed her willingness to cooperate with the investigators—including participating in online testimonies—she raised concerns regarding the process. She noted that it required the intervention of the Minister of Justice, Marios Phitiris, to initiate an official probe into her allegations, questioning why such a high-level intervention was necessary to move the case forward.
Currently, the case is moving into the investigative phase, where Fotiou is expected to provide her formal testimony to the appointed officials. The appointment of these investigators marks a significant step in the administrative handling of her claims after her initial attempts to address the issues with the authorities.
