AEK Larnaca parts ways with head coach Mauro Camoranesi
AEK Larnaca officially terminated the contract of head coach Mauro Camoranesi on August 14, 2026, just 44 to 58 days after his appointment on June 17. The decision followed the team's early elimination from the Conference League by Beitar Jerusalem on penalties and a series of underwhelming friendly performances, including a 1-3 defeat to Asteras Tripolis. Along with the Italian-Argentine manager, physical trainer Miguel Henrique has also departed the club.
This rapid dismissal highlights ongoing instability at AEK, as the club has seen six different coaches since May 2024. Technical director Xavi Roca, who recruited Camoranesi, is now under significant pressure to appoint a successor immediately. With the domestic league season starting in two weeks, the board is seeking a coach who can integrate quickly and evaluate the current roster without a transition period. Roca is currently finalizing a shortlist of candidates, aiming for an appointment by mid-week to ensure the new manager can oversee the final friendly match against Omonia 29M on August 21.
