AEK Larnaca parts ways with Mauro Camoranesi amid management overhaul
AEK Larnaca officially terminated the contract of head coach Mauro Camoranesi on August 15, 2026, just 44 days after his appointment. The decision followed the team's poor performance in pre-season friendlies, including a recent loss to Asteras Tripolis, and a premature elimination from the UEFA Conference League at the hands of Beitar Jerusalem. Along with Camoranesi, physical trainer Miguel Henrique also departed the club. This dismissal continues a trend of coaching instability, with the team having cycled through six different managers since May 2024.
Technical director Xavi Roca is currently overseeing the search for a successor, with the club aiming to appoint a new coach by the end of the week ahead of the upcoming league season. Despite the coaching uncertainty, the club has continued its roster development, officially announcing the signings of 29-year-old German midfielder Sven Kohler and 32-year-old Spanish left-back Brian Olivan, both on two-year contracts. The management faces immediate pressure to stabilize the squad before the domestic championship commences in less than two weeks.
