Arson investigation underway after fire at Protaras rental shop

Authorities in the Famagusta district of Cyprus have launched an arson investigation following a fire that broke out at a motorcycle and vehicle rental shop in the Protaras area. The blaze was reported at approximately 4:00 AM on August 15, 2026.

Police and members of the Fire Service arrived at the scene shortly after the alarm was raised and successfully extinguished the fire. The incident resulted in significant damage to multiple quad bikes and buggy-type vehicles stored at the facility. Initial assessments by investigators have uncovered evidence suggesting the blaze was a malicious act, specifically pointing to arson.
