Road accident on Nicosia-Limassol motorway leads to temporary lane closure

A traffic accident occurred on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near Moni, heading toward Limassol, shortly before 11:00 a.m. on August 15, 2026. The collision necessitated a temporary closure of the left lane while police and members of the Fire Service arrived at the scene to provide assistance and regulate traffic. Two occupants of the involved vehicle were transported to a hospital for precautionary medical examinations.

While the vehicle was quickly cleared from the travel path, the left lane remained blocked for a short period to allow maintenance crews to clean the road surface. During this time, traffic was diverted through the right lane, and authorities urged motorists to exercise caution and maintain reduced speeds. By approximately 11:25 a.m., the cleanup operations were concluded, and the left lane was reopened to traffic, allowing normal vehicle flow to resume.
