Aris signs Portuguese goalkeeper Ricardo Velho from Farense

Aris Thessaloniki has officially secured the transfer of 27-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper Ricardo Velho from Farense. The deal, finalized on Saturday, August 15, 2026, involves a permanent transfer for a total fee of 3.5 million euros. Velho, who previously played on loan for Genclerbirligi in Turkey and represents the agency of Jorge Mendes, is expected in Thessaloniki for medical examinations ahead of signing a four-year contract.

This roster reinforcement follows a difficult period for the team regarding their goalkeeper position. Earlier reports indicated that Aris player Vana Alves suffered a second-degree scapula injury, keeping him sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks. While the club's existing goalkeeper, 23-year-old Mislav Zadro, has shown promise during training, the management decided to pursue an experienced replacement to ensure depth.
