Spartak Moscow pauses interest in Pafos FC winger Joao Correia

Spartak Moscow has temporarily halted negotiations to acquire 29-year-old winger Joao Correia from Pafos FC. Reports from Russian sports outlets suggest that the Moscow-based club has shifted its primary focus to other transfer targets, though Correia remains a potential alternative should those primary deals fail to materialize. The club is reportedly reconsidering its strategy after facing challenges regarding other candidates such as Maksim Samorodov from Akhmat and Sergey Pinyaev from Lokomotiv.

Pafos FC general director Charis Theocharous previously confirmed that the club was aware of Spartak’s interest in the Cape Verdean international, although he clarified that no official formal offer had been submitted. Correia, who is a key player for manager Ricardo Sa Pinto, remains under contract with the Cypriot side until 2028. Following an impressive season where he recorded 12 goals and 7 assists in 36 appearances, he continues to be a vital part of the Pafos squad.

While the Russian interest is currently on hold, sources indicate that negotiations could be revived depending on how the club's other recruitment efforts progress. For now, the player continues his duties at Pafos, with the club holding the final say regarding his future.
