Mother dies in drowning incident at CTO beach in Larnaca
On the evening of Saturday, August 15, 2026, a 35-year-old European tourist died from drowning at CTO beach in Larnaca, Cyprus. The woman had entered the water around 6:20 p.m. with her two daughters, aged 12 and 13, while turbulent sea conditions were reported in the area. Fellow beachgoers noticed the family in distress and managed to pull them from the water, but the mother could not be revived. The father and their third child, a son, were on the shore at the time of the incident.
The two rescued girls were initially transported to Larnaca General Hospital.
