Deadly flash floods devastate Indiana

Severe storms and historic flooding have hit Indiana since August 11, 2026, leading to at least seven confirmed deaths, including a four-year-old child and a 31-year-old cyclist who fell into a collapsed road. While initial reports cited five deaths, the toll has since risen to seven. Hundreds of residents have been displaced from their homes, and emergency services continue to conduct water rescues to assist those trapped.

Governor Braun has requested federal assistance, and President Donald Trump has officially approved a state of emergency declaration to support recovery efforts. Although the initial storm front has moved eastward toward the Ohio Valley and the central Appalachians, the state remains in a critical recovery phase as officials manage the ongoing impact of the disaster.
