Greek tennis players exit Cincinnati Open

Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas was eliminated in the second round of the Cincinnati Open in the United States after a 2-0 (3-6, 5-7) defeat to Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime. The 28-year-old Tsitsipas had previously enjoyed a successful start to the tournament, defeating Valentin Royer 2-0 (7-6, 7-5) in his first-round match held on August 14. Despite a history of success against Auger-Aliassime, having won seven of their ten previous encounters, Tsitsipas failed to maintain momentum against the number two seed.

Meanwhile, Maria Sakkari was knocked out of the Cincinnati Open in the third round by Iga Swiatek. Although Sakkari dominated the first set with a 6-4 victory, the Polish athlete improved her performance significantly, leading to a comeback win for Swiatek with 1-6, 1-6 in the subsequent sets. The match concluded after one hour and 59 minutes, marking the end of Sakkari's participation in the Masters tournament.
