Cyprus highlighted in international safety campaign

Cyprus has been featured in a new international video produced by the International Social Security Association’s Construction Section (ISSA-C) as part of the global “Vision Zero – Safety. Health. Wellbeing.” initiative. The Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) announced that the video showcases national best practices regarding the prevention of workplace accidents, emphasizing the critical role of senior management in ensuring safe working environments.

The featured case studies from Cyprus focus on the campaign's first “Golden Rule,” which mandates that leadership must take the lead and demonstrate active commitment. The project illustrates how implementing the Vision Zero strategy and its seven established rules can systematically improve occupational safety and health. ETEK’s president contributed to the video, noting that architects and engineers are essential in maintaining these standards throughout the entire life cycle of construction projects.

This initiative aims to cultivate a robust culture of prevention globally. By highlighting the Cypriot approach, the ISSA-C intends to provide a practical framework for reducing workplace incidents. The video serves as a resource for professional organizations to adopt proactive management strategies, reinforcing the necessity of managerial involvement in achieving the ultimate goal of zero accidents at work sites.
