Internal disputes arise in DISY over party vice-president Yiannis Karousos

Tensions have emerged within the Democratic Rally (DISY) party in Cyprus regarding the recent public statements made by its vice-president, Yiannis Karousos. The dissatisfaction within the party leadership at Pindaros stems from remarks Karousos made during an interview with the newspaper Kathimerini, where he suggested that party members who intend to support President Nikos Christodoulides should openly declare their intentions now.

This follows earlier controversies regarding his commentary on potential government reshuffles. Sources indicate that the party leadership has previously signaled to Karousos that his personal positions and the manner in which he expresses them do not represent the official stance of the DISY leadership. While some party members and supporters in Limassol express agreement with his outspoken approach, the leadership continues to distance itself from his interventions, maintaining that his statements cause friction within the organization.
