Fifteen-year-old boy kills mother in Portugal

A 15-year-old boy killed his 33-year-old mother, Gabriela Barbosa, at their home in Alges, Oeiras, Portugal. The incident reportedly occurred following an altercation where the teenager used a chokehold. The boy remained in the apartment until the following day before notifying the authorities. His four-year-old sister was present at the residence during the incident and has since been placed under the care of a trusted individual.

Following his appearance before the Cascais Family and Juvenile Court on Friday, August 14, 2026, the court ordered a three-month provisional detention in a closed educational center.
