16-year-old student gains legal experience at Limassol District Court
Sixteen-year-old Marios Ioannis Sabounis, an upcoming second-year student at the Apostolos Petros and Pavlos Lyceum in Limassol, has been spending his summer holidays observing proceedings at the Limassol District Court. Motivated by a long-standing ambition to become a lawyer, which began in the fourth grade of primary school, Marios attends daily sessions by choice to study the work of judges and the legal arguments presented by the prosecution and the defense.
His opportunity to observe court life came after a two-year search for access, which resulted in a contact with the Limassol prosecution office. Public prosecutor Giannos Argyrou facilitated his attendance, providing guidance and explaining complex legal procedures that Marios has not yet encountered in his academic studies. The teenager was interviewed by the press on Thursday, August 6, while fulfilling his self-imposed routine of note-taking and observing courtroom dynamics.
This experience serves as a practical foundation for his future career aspirations in the legal field. Marios continues to attend various hearings, gaining firsthand insight into the administration of justice in Cyprus, which he intends to pursue professionally after completing his secondary education.
