Olympiacos intensifies efforts to sign Cristian Casseres

Olympiacos is moving forward with the acquisition of 26-year-old Venezuelan midfielder Cristian Casseres from Toulouse. Following a confirmed agreement between club owner Vangelis Marinakis and coach Jose Luis Mendilibar to continue their partnership, the Greek club has prioritized bolstering its midfield. Casseres, the captain of the Venezuelan national team, is considered a top target, having recorded 2 goals and 5 assists in 34 appearances during the previous season. He is versatile enough to play as a defensive, central, or attacking midfielder.

While the club is also pursuing other reinforcements, including Tiknizian and Remo Freuler, the focus for the midfield has narrowed to choosing between Casseres and Gustavo Puerta. Recent reports suggest that a deal for Puerta has become significantly more difficult to complete, while negotiations with Toulouse for the transfer of Casseres are in advanced stages. Olympiacos has submitted a new improved proposal to the French side, and sources indicate that Toulouse is nearing an agreement to release the player to the Piraeus-based club.
