Escalation between United States and Iran over Strait of Hormuz

Tensions in the Middle East have intensified as diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, which began on February 28 with US and Israeli attacks on Iran, have reached a stalemate. U.S. President Donald Trump has officially ruled out any extension of the ceasefire and stated that no negotiations are currently taking place or planned. In response, Iranian officials, including parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, have declared that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States fulfills commitments from a June agreement, including the lifting of a naval blockade, the release of frozen assets, and the termination of military operations.

While President Trump asserts that the U.S. naval blockade is effective, the strait is operational, and mines have been cleared, Iranian authorities have threatened to launch precise military operations to break the blockade if diplomacy fails. The Iranian military and its allies are preparing to escalate actions in the region, signaling a potential shift to a full-scale offensive stance.
