Famagusta District and Neuranet Solutions partner for AI-driven fire detection
The Famagusta District Local Government Organisation (DLGO) and Neuranet Solutions Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding on August 11, 2026, to strengthen fire prevention and early detection capabilities through artificial intelligence. This partnership formalizes an ongoing collaboration focused on the PyroGuard AI warning system, which has been under development and testing in the region.
The agreement leverages the geographical advantages of the Famagusta district, where strategic, high-altitude locations have been utilized for initial installations. According to the announcement, these sites provide extensive visibility, which has significantly improved the ability to detect smoke and fire outbreaks. The success of these early pilot programs in Famagusta served as a foundation for scaling the PyroGuard AI network across Cyprus.
Famagusta DLGO President Yiannis Karousos emphasized that the initiative highlights the vital role local authorities play in deploying innovative environmental technologies. The project aims to provide a meaningful social impact by utilizing advanced technical solutions to mitigate wildfire risks. The partnership reflects a commitment to expanding the scope of automated fire monitoring, with the lessons learned from the Famagusta installations currently guiding the broader national deployment of the detection network.
