Cyprus enters top ten European video game markets by revenue
The first Cyprus Video Game Industry Report 2025, published by the Cyprus Game Makers Association (CYGMA), reveals that the island has established itself as a major global player in the gaming sector. As of 2025, Cyprus hosts over 400 video game companies and related businesses, employing more than 4,300 people and generating a total annual revenue exceeding €3.2 billion. The report places Cyprus among the top ten European industries by revenue.
According to the findings, the mobile gaming segment is a primary driver of this growth, generating €1.8 billion in 2025 with 615 million downloads, which ranks Cyprus third globally behind China and Vietnam. Additionally, 36 PC and console titles were released, contributing €1.4 billion in revenue. Most of the sector’s income, however, is derived from established titles rather than new 2025 releases. Regarding population size, the country ranks first globally in terms of the number of gaming companies, total industry revenue, and mobile game installs.
Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou highlighted that this sector represents a significant opportunity for the Cypriot economy. He noted that the industry creates high-value jobs, attracts international talent, and aligns with the nation's goal of fostering an outward-looking, technology-driven digital economy.
