Weather transition across Cyprus as temperatures rise

The weather across Cyprus is undergoing a significant transition this week as an unstable air mass, which caused scattered rain and thunderstorms earlier, began to recede on Thursday. Meteorological reports indicate that this shift is making way for a warmer, more stable climate influenced by seasonal low pressure, resulting in clear skies and rising temperatures across the island.

From Thursday onwards, temperatures have shown a marked increase, climbing above seasonal averages. By Friday, inland temperatures are expected to reach between 37 and 41 degrees Celsius, with coastal regions seeing highs between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius. Mountainous areas, including Chionistra, are experiencing warmer conditions with peaks reaching 27 to 32 degrees Celsius. Winds generally remain light to moderate, transitioning from variable to southwestern or northwestern, with sea breezes becoming more prominent in the afternoons.

Following the recent period of atmospheric instability, the forecast suggests a sustained period of sunny, summer-like conditions. Meteorologists continue to monitor the situation, noting that while the heat will intensify, no further major storms are currently anticipated in the immediate forecast.
