Weather update for Cyprus: unstable air mass to recede on Thursday

Cyprus is currently affected by an unstable air mass, which is expected to begin receding starting Thursday. For Wednesday, the weather will initially be mainly clear, but clouds developing in the afternoon and early evening are forecast to bring isolated rain and thunderstorms, primarily in the mountains and inland areas. Temperatures are expected to peak at 35 degrees Celsius inland, around 31-32 degrees on the coasts, and 25 degrees in higher mountainous regions.

Winds will start as variable at 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with temporary local gusts up to 5 Beaufort on exposed coasts. The sea is expected to remain slightly rough. Overnight, the weather will clear, though some clouds may persist in the western half of the island, with temperatures dropping to approximately 22 degrees inland, 23 on the coast, and 15 in the mountains.

Looking ahead, the meteorological department forecasts a significant rise in temperatures from Thursday onwards, with conditions remaining above average climatological levels for the coming days as the unstable system exits the region.
