Weather update: unstable air mass retreats as temperatures rise

Cyprus is transitioning from a period of weather instability to warmer, more seasonal conditions starting Thursday, August 20, 2026. Coastal areas will see temperatures ranging from 31 to 36 degrees, while the highest mountain regions will experience temperatures around 26 to 29 degrees Celsius. Winds will shift from light variable patterns to sea breezes of 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will remain generally calm to slightly rough.

Following the retreat of the unstable air mass, the weekend is expected to remain hot, with temperatures remaining above the climatological average. Meteorologists note that seasonal low pressure currently dominates the region, leading to sunny skies and a reduction in cloud cover compared to previous days.
