Omonia travels to Belgium for the Europa League playoff first leg against Sint-Truidense
Omonia Nicosia has traveled to Belgium for the first leg of the Europa League playoff round against Sint-Truidense V.V. (STVV), scheduled for August 20 at 21:00 at the Stayen stadium. The team, coached by Henning Berg, aims to secure a favorable result to gain an advantage ahead of the return leg in Nicosia. This match marks the 200th European appearance for the Cypriot club.
The squad traveling to Belgium includes new signings Jean-Kevin Duverne and Lubomir Satka, while Moses Odubajo remains excluded. Michlali Mayambela was left out of the squad as a precaution due to muscle discomfort and will be monitored daily. Approximately 150 Omonia fans are expected to attend the match at the Stayen stadium.
This is Omonia’s sixth time in the Europa League playoff stage. A victory would be historic, as no Cypriot club has yet reached the League Phase of the Europa League under the current format. Even if they fail to qualify, Omonia is already guaranteed a spot in the Conference League League Phase for the upcoming season, as established by the club's current European standing.
