Chinese manufacturer Gotion to invest 940 million euros in Spanish battery plants
Chinese battery manufacturer Gotion has announced a major expansion project in Spain, planning to invest 940 million euros to establish two new production facilities in Valladolid. This investment comes as Europe seeks to reduce its dependence on Asian suppliers for critical components, signaling a shift toward localized industrial production rather than mere vehicle importation.
Gotion is a prominent global battery maker with deep ties to the European market, most notably through its strategic partnership with Volkswagen, which is its largest shareholder with an investment of approximately 1.1 billion euros. The new Spanish plants are expected to create roughly 1,000 permanent jobs once they reach full operational capacity, further integrating the Chinese manufacturer into the European automotive supply chain.
