Four killed and ten injured in minibus accident in Sivas province, Turkey
On August 18, 2026, a tragic traffic accident occurred in the Sivas province of central Turkey, resulting in four fatalities and ten injuries. The incident took place at approximately 12:30 p.m. local time on the D-865 highway, situated between the villages of Elmaseki and Cokrak. A minibus carrying 14 people was traveling from Sivas towards the Susehri district when the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons yet to be determined.
The vehicle struck roadside guardrails before overturning and descending into a ravine. Emergency response teams, including medical personnel, police, gendarmes, and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, were dispatched to the site. Among the ten survivors, four individuals are reported to be in critical condition, while six others sustained lighter injuries. All injured parties were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, and an official investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
