Police arrest suspect after violent brawl involving food delivery workers in Paphos
Five food delivery riders were injured on the night of Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in the Mouttalos area of Paphos, following a dispute over a food order. The incident began when a 26-year-old delivery driver was attacked with a stone by an individual who refused to pay. As other riders arrived at the scene to support their colleague, they were confronted by a group of approximately ten men, some wielding metal objects. The attackers caused damage to the drivers' motorcycles and stole 300 euros and a mobile phone from a 22-year-old rider. Five victims were subsequently taken to Paphos General Hospital for treatment, with one requiring continued hospitalization.
Following a police investigation involving CCTV footage and witness testimony, a 35-year-old Greek Cypriot man was arrested on Wednesday night. Authorities are currently searching for additional suspects involved in the assault. The Paphos CID is investigating multiple charges, including robbery, assault causing actual bodily harm, rioting, and illegal possession of offensive weapons. The suspect is expected to appear before the Paphos District Court to face a remand hearing as the inquiry continues.
