Cultural highlights and film marathon across Cyprus
Between August 19 and 21, 2026, Cyprus hosted a diverse series of cultural events, including film screenings, shadow theatre, and festivals. The 27th Summer Screening Marathon at the Constantia Open-Air Cinema in Nicosia featured several notable titles: the Sundance-winning Indian drama 'Girls Will Be Girls' on August 19, Fatih Akin’s 'The Cut' on August 20, and the dramatic comedy 'Dj Ahmet' on August 21. The marathon is scheduled to continue through September 13, with screenings running from Wednesday to Sunday.
In addition to the Nicosia film screenings, the Ayia Napa Marina hosted family-oriented movie nights featuring 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Grease' from August 20 to 23. Local traditions were celebrated through performances like 'A Suitcase Called Cyprus' in Moniatis, and festivals such as the 9th Fig and Halidji Cheese Festival in Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias. Various art exhibitions, including Christina Siakola's 'Things I Forget' and the 'Code Reconstruction' group exhibition in Nicosia, continue to be open to the public through late August and September.
